Program notes from the April 2009 gathering (Religulous)

Once again thanks everyone for a wonderful P&P evening. Avi’s "Borekas" and Mikela’s strawberry desert have definitely made it into the P&P Hall of Fame so please don’t lose the recipe! We might ask you to prepare it again for a "best of" event in the future...

The only note I have is a link to the following cartoon which explains some of the concept of the Mormon Church and was banned by them:

Hope to see ya’ll in the May gathering.

P&P event Tuesday April 14th - Religulous

Thanks to everyone who voted for the April 14th feature film. It was a close race from the beginning, with the top 2 choices always being neck and neck. Here are the final results:

Religulous, 44% (7 votes) - Winner by 1 vote!
The Esoteric Agenda, 38% (6 votes)
The Grateful Dead Movie, 13% (2 votes)
Kymatica, 7% (1 vote)
Black Gold, 0% (0 votes)
W., 0% (0 votes)

The Esoteric Agenda is clearly a movie many of us also want to watch, so it will be the feature presentation in the May 12th P&P!

But for this month I am happy to invite you all to celebrate spring and watch Bill Maher’s Religulous together. Here is the film’s trailer:

Our evening schedule will be:
07:00 - 08:00 Gathering
08:00 - 09:30 Community potluck dinner. Theme: "Spring".
09:30 - 11:30 Feature film: "Religulous".

As always, we start the evening with a community potluck dinner. This month’s theme is Spring - anything that is fresh or reminds you of new beginnings. It would be a great help if you RSVP before Monday so that I can prepare for the right number of people. Dinner starts at 8pm - please be on time.

Potluck and Propaganda is aimed to present information and encourage critical thinking. Let go of your belief systems (BS) and investigate different reality tunnels. The opinions expressed in the movies shown do not necessarily reflect the ones of P&P or its organizers.

Program notes from "Resonance" - January 24 2009

Thanks to all who came to SeraPhi this weekend. It was truly a joy to share ideas and get informed together. All the material we played is available for free on the web. Here are the movies in the order they were shown:

We started the evening with a talk titled "Open Source Democracy" by Douglas Rushkoff (55 min), author of a book by the same name.

We then accidentally played a piece by Keith Olbermann called "8 years in 8 minute" (9 min).

We continued with the clip that we originally wanted to show, "Great Moments In Presidential Speeches Compilation" (5 min).

The feature movie for the evening was "The Pharmacratic Inquisition" by Jan Irvin & Andrew Rutajit of gnosticmedia.com (111 min). Here is part 1 of 12:

YouTube playlist with all 12 parts: here.

We finished the evening with the awesome TED talk "My Stroke of Insight" by Jill Bolte Taylor (20 min).

Hope to see many of you at the next P&P!

P&P Update 1/19/2009

Hello kids and greetings to all,
Here is an update on what we've got lined up:

1/24/09 - P&P at SeraPhi Healing Center to kick off "Resonance". Hosted by RawHeaven.org, UltravioletCarnival.com & Seraphi.org. Potluck starts at 6pm, we will then show the movie "The Pharmacratic Inquisition". See older blog post for more details. P&P is free as always. $10 will be collected at 10pm if you stay for the party.

2/10/09 - Because of the proximity to Resonance, the following P&P event will be held on the 2nd and not the 1st Tuesday of February. Please mark your calendars. I am preparing something special - going deep into a very controversial topic. There will be recommended reading if you'd like to familiarize yourself. Hey, you gotta work to fully understand the broad picture...

As always you are invited to join the community potluck, so bring a dish a drink or a friend (real or imaginary).

Potluck and Propaganda is aimed to present information and encourage applying critical thinking. Let go of your belief systems (BS) and investigate different reality tunnels. The opinions expressed in the event do not necessarily reflect the ones of P&P or its organizers.
